Voltando ao proposito inicial do blog, vamos falar de design…
Todo mundo tem uma posicao muito clara em relacao a um dos objetos mais discriminados do mundo da decoracao: os pufes. Nao os com o proposito de destacar outros moveis ou de complementar uma sala, mas estou falando dakeles pufes macios, gigantes, com um Q de confortavel, com um enchimento muito cara de pau de restos de isopor, muito barato e com um design q normalmente agrada os de gosto um tanto duvidoso. Quem ja foi ate Embu das Artes ou teve a sorte de dar de cara com um desses, sabe de quem estou falando…o elemento encontra-se acima, a esquerda.

Felizmente, uma empresa inglesa chamada Budda Bag acabou com esse pre-conceito existente em pufes desse estilo e aliando muito, muito, mas muuuuito conforto MESMO + um design muito trendy = BUDDA BAG.
No wonder I wanna be one now!

Getting back for it’s blog real purpose, let’s talk about design! That puffs (or maybe bags, I’m not so sure which name they use in UK to refer to this product) are known as nooo-cool furniture, everybody knows. Specially in Brazil, we have this Ugly Bag-brazillian version, somehow comfortable, that can be cheap and proportionally disgusting in double. So, it was considered comfortable, but not worthy having home. It could be the frankstein of your living room, dragging all the attention. But today, I discovered this really amazing store, called BuddaBag. they have all sort of sizes, colors, and types of covers for you to decorate your home with a nice, confortable and well designed bag.

Regent street eh uma das melhores ruas de compras de Londres. Fica na West End London (area central da cidade que agrupa a maior parte dos pontos turisticos, comerciais, financeiros e predios governamentais), comecando perto de Piccadilly Circus e terminando em Oxford Street.
Idealizada pelo arquiteto John Nash, o nome foi dado em funcao do principe regente da epoca, posteriormente conhecido como Georve IV.

Todos os anos, na epoca do natal, acontece uma cerimonia anual para acender as luzes de natal que enfeitam a rua, e uma “celebridade” eh escolhida para cumprir tal tarefa.

Em tempo, na Regent Street fica a famosa loja da Apple. Nao bate a de NY claro, mas msm assim, nao faz feio!
o logo da Apple, que a principio nao tem nada a ver com uma marca de computadores, uma pesquisa mais funda a respeito e descobrimos q Machintosh eh um sub-tipo de maca, ta explicado. E pq o logo eh uma maca mordida? Simplesmente um trocadilho entre ” bite” por ” byte”.

Mais sobre West End: a area abriga o leicester square(area teatral), Trafalgar Square (onde fica a National Gallery), Chinatown (dispensa comentarios), Soho (trendy e baladas), Covent Garden (ultra chique), Oxford Street, Bond Street, Regent Street, Knightsbridge (estas ultimas, ruas para compras e mais compras. Em Knightsbridge fica a famosa Harrods), Tottenham Court Road (para os geeks), piccadilly (baladas a noite)

Regent Street is one of the best area for shopping in West-End London. It starts at Piccadilly Circus and goes foward until reaches Oxford Circus. Every year a Christmas event is hold there, and a ceremony for lightning the christmas light displays by a “celebrity” being chosen annually.
It was originally design by John Nash, an architetch responsible for much of the Regent London, it name was given because of the Prince Regent (later George IV).

There is also the Mega-Apple Store. By the way, the logo of apple is an apple because of the name Machintosh, which is a type of apple, and the “bite” refers to “byte”.

By the way, in West End is located most of the touristc points of the city, also with the comercial, financial and government buildings. The streets&squares that makes part of it are: Leicester Square (teathres and cinemas), Trafalgar Square, chinatown, Soho (the trendy area), Covent Garden, Oxford Street, Regent Street, Knightsbridge, Totteham Court Road, Picadilly.

Meu primeiro projeto da Facu. Briefing: Criar uma identidade visual de si msm. A proposta em si, era experimental, ou seja, ir alem do tradicional “logo”. Qualquer loucura era bem vinda, desde jiggle puzzle ateh uma receita de coquetel que tivesse ingredientes, formato do copo, frutinha que vai no topo com o canudo que se relacionavam com sua personalidade. (na verdade, me lembrou um pouco os projetos da Puc…)

Enfim, eu escolhi fazer uma serie de business cards (aproveitando a deixa pra criar um pra uso msm, ja que faz tempo que to pra tomar vergonha na cara e fazer um decente). Cada um se relaciona a alguma area da minha vida (profissional, pessoal, amigos).

My first project of University was a briefing for creating a visual identity for ourselves. Pretty harsh, since its purpose was to be totally freaking experimental. People were allowed and encourage to take any possible wacky path, like for instance, making a jiggle puzzle, or creating a cocktail recipe which contains ingredients, fruits, shape glass that reflects your personality.

Well, I ended up with a set of business cards, which one reflecting some aspects of me, like a card for professional meetings, another for friends and stuff, illustrations (who knows, I might get some free lance from it =) and family as well.

Alguns dias atras, quando tudo estava tranquilo e eu nao tinha muito o que fazer, resolvi finalmente tomar coragem, espantar os fantasmas e mexer pela primeira vez no Corel Painter 9 (dizia a lenda que eh um software mto dificil de se aprender, nada intuitivo como o Photoshop…)
Infelizmente a lenda se confirma verdadeira para mim ;_;. Vai levar um tempo ate que eu consiga pintar razoavelmente nele, e mais meio seculo para virar mestre em painter.
Enfim, tai minha “arte” no painter…pelo menos o urahara ta “kakkoii” o suficiente pra salvar a pintura.

E pra quem nao sabe, Bleach eh um manga, de Kubo tite, que anda fazendo o maior sucesso no Japao. Vale a pena conferir.

Didnt have a lot to do in the past few days, so for the very first time, I threw away my fear from Corel Painter 9 and started painting on it. People used to say that it’s harder than photoshop, and dificult to learn how the brushes works. Unfortunally, I had to agree with them.
This is the result of my first attempt on it, though. No so good, a bit amateur, for so to say, but Cool Urahara saves the pic =)

Oh yeah, and for those who dont know what the hell is Bleach, it’s a manga, created by Kubo Tite, and my second favorite on the list =). If you have never seen it, it’s worth trying.
(Now, back to photoshop! *sigh)

Na regiao oeste de Londres existe um lugar chamado Bricklane, tambem conhecido como Banglatown, devido a comunidade de Bangladesh que se estabeleceu ali no seculo passado. Segundo o Wikipedia, “A large part of its charm is the possibility of such strange discoveries and it has always been popular with and much photographed by art students. Bargain hunters from across London also value it greatly.”

Perto de Bayswater tem um shopping com umas vitrines muito interessantes. Em cada uma delas, varias lojas de ramos diferentes exibem seus produtos usando a mesma linguagem grafica. Sry, fico devendo as fotos das outras vitrines =/

Near Bayswater there is a shopping centre with very stylish windows, for those who love window-shopping =). Check it out, they are basically made of illustrations bonding into the same visual languague that connects diferents types of stores.
